The Next Milton Keynes Raspberry Jam Announced!

Jam Number Two! After a great first event of the ‘regeneration’ of The Milton Keynes Raspberry Jam we’re delighted to announce our second meetup at The National Museum of Computing, home of the Pi’s great-great-great-grandma, Colossus.

Well what a fun morning we had – hosted at The National Museum of Computing in Bletchley Park, the Raspberry Jam Milton Keynes is back in business.

Two rooms full of projects brought in by the attendees – RetroPie builds, robots, synths, a 3D printer, sensor projects and couple of MicroBit projects snuck in under the door 🙂

The meeting was well attended with most staying for the whole morning, picking each other’s brains or just being entertained by the array of projects – playing retro games, playing weird electronic instruments or duelling robots. The Jam was hosted by PJ Evans from the Museum – backed up by his sidekick for the morning – yours truly. The rooms were kindly provided by the Museum which enabled the event to be free to all the attendees. We hope this can be the start of something much bigger and are hoping to have our next meet up in September (possibly the 16th). This time, we’ll probably separate the two rooms into show-and-tell and workshops, so we can get some people coding. Let us know if you are interested.

The Home Automation Framework

The Home Automation Framework provides a web interface that allows users to control devices in their home using the browser on a smartphone, tablet, or PC. So far, the system allows for powering outlets on and off, locking and unlocking a deadbolt, and opening and closing blinds. The framework created for this project was designed to make it easy for future developers to integrate new functionality into the system through the creation of new modules.
